A lot of people have asked me about the waterfalls in Bali I so frequently visit, so I thought I would share with you exactly just wonderful they are, and everything you need to know to get there!!
They go by the name of Aling Aling waterfalls and they are about a 3 hour drive out of main bali (Kuta/Legian/Seminyak/Canggu)
To get there you’ll need to hire a driver for the day, this should cost you around 800,000 – 1,000,000 Rupiah ($80-$100) which is best to organise the day before as you’ll want to leave early to get there for the best part of the day!
Once you get there you’ll be offered 3 types of waterfall trek options; short, medium or long! I always go for the medium as it includes the blue lagoon and that’s possibly my favourite part of the whole trip! It will cost you 250,000pp ($25) and will get you a guide to take you to the waterfalls
The first stop is the blue lagoon which as I said is my favourite, it’s absolutely beautiful and you can swim to the back, Climb up the rock into the pool behind, and jump of a small rock into the back lagoon!
After a short stay here you will walk to the next part where there are 3 tiers of waterfalls one after another.
The first one is absolutely incredible! Due to water running over the rocks for however long it has made natural waterslide that you can slide down on your back! It’s a little bit of a shock hitting the water but it is so much fun and I definitely recommend doing this! If your a little unsure about it then there is an option to use a life jacket 🙂 **Click here for video > Eeeeee VIDEOOOOOO 😀
There is also a little platform opposite the waterslide that you can jump off for a small jump, but for those of you like me who are adrenaline junkies the next two waterfalls are where you want to be!
The first one is about 12 metres high and the second is about 17 metres high, both of which I have jumped many times and both are definitely exhilerating!!
You can spend as much time here as you like, and if your prepared enough to bring snacks/fruit this is a good place to do that! Just make sure you don’t leave any rubbish behind !!
After this your tour guide will take you a short walk to see the Aling Aling waterfall! (Where the name came from obviously) This waterfall you can’t swim in but it is very beautiful and definitely should be seen !
The walk back up definitely gets you puffing but it’s nothing too strenuous 🙂
This trip is definitely one of my favourite things to do and I absolutely love taking people here and seeing the awe on their faces. I go every time I go to bali and will continue going as long as I can! I hope you all love the waterfalls as much as I do!!
Oh! and if it happens to be raining don’t you worry, makes it even more magical <3
- When your driver picks you up in the morning ask him to stop for fruit on the way. There’s a few places to stop and the fruit is amazing!! Also get cassava chips, they are soooo much better then potato chips!!!
- The walk down to the waterfalls is downhill and pretty slippery, so if your not comfortable in flip flops maybe take some proper shoes for the walk down !
- Don’t forget a towel!
- If you want to add an extra special ending to your day then I suggest doing a detour on the way back via the ubud rice fields for a late lunch, but make sure you ask your driver the day before so he knows it’s included in the price !!
- Make sure you watch out your windows when on your way to the waterfalls, as you’ll see a lot of monkeys along the road! Your driver will usually stop for you to see them but they are very cheeky so don’t get too close !
HOPE YOU HAVE THE BEST TIME!!
